About  the Start of What You Don't Need Is Exactly What I Need

In May 2021, I curated a mini exhibition at MoCA Taipei titled "On The Other Hand". The original intention of the project was to use the intriguing phrase "On The Other Hand". This phrase means "the other hand" and is a very physical state. Its purpose is to loosen habitual thinking and to produce a deep qualitative change from a different perspective. It encourages us to ask ourselves, "Can there be another way of thinking that we haven't considered?"

To bring this plan to life, I invited five creators to participate in the exhibition. Although the exhibition location was set in an art museum, the actual exhibition did not take place in the museum's exhibition room. I also asked myself the same question I asked the artists, "Who said that exhibitions can only be about curators asking questions and artists answering them?" I wanted the audience to solve the problem. Therefore, I put myself into the ranks of creation, and under the name " What You Don't Need Is Exactly What I Need  ", I collected idle yarn from people's homes, from website's and created art pieces using double half-hitch knot techniques.
